Vein Recognition Launched by RST EPOS

Biometric vein identification is one of the most advanced biometric identification technologies available in today's market. The technology works by identifying subcutaneous (under the skin) vein patterns in an individual's finger. When the user's finger is placed on the scanner, an infrared light maps the location of the veins. The red blood cells, present within the vein, absorb these light rays and show up on the map as black lines, whereas the remaining hand structure shows up white. After the vein template is extracted, it is matched to the corresponding previously stored pattern.

Advantages Of Vein Recognition
Accurate

Rates of acceptance for false users or rejecting registered users are among the lowest for biometric technologies, making it highly reliable for security applications. Unique vein patterns, plus our cutting edge technology mean extrememly high accuracy rates, and with only a small amount of data required (400 bytes) per scan, a user's ID can be verified in less than one second.

Secure

As vein patterns are found internally within the body, forgery is next to impossible and cannot be manipulated. With false rejection rates of 0.01% and false acceptance rates of 0.0001% it is the ideal solution for verifying a user's identity.

Fast

Vein pattern matching is completed within, what is literally, the blink of an eye, giving both system users and customers a speedy authentication process without the hassle and without the wait.

Small

Vein recognition scanners are extremely compact and durable making then suitable for use in almost any environment.

Contactless

As vein recognition uses light transmission to gather biometric data, it means that the condition of the skin surface due to dirt, dryness or roughness is no longer a problem. The contactless nature of the technology also makes it a more hygienic option for all involved.
