Established in summer 2006 by Claire Mc Gowan; The Beach House bar and restaurant located on the Pier in Buncrana, Co.Donegal has quickly reached acclaim serving its local produce with an international twist. The Beach House has been recognised by the Bridgestone Good Food Guide and Georgina Campbell’s Guide to Ireland 2008. Retail Systems Technology have helped increase operational efficiency at the Beach House by installing a complete bar and restaurant touch screen ordering system.
The Beach House is designed to be stylish, sleek and relaxing. The benefits of a new business means that the entire operation can be streamlined by the owners in the planning stages; in this case Claire’s challenge in terms of EPOS and stock management was to find a supplier who could offer her a state of the art solution which would allow her to manage this new venture with ease and accountability.

After reviewing the complete range of cash registers and touch screen terminals available from RST The Beach House chose the top of the range APOS terminal. This electronic touch screen is the most advanced product RST has to offer currently and its benefits show case why; it is spill resistant, a waiter could pour water over the till and it would be undamaged, it has a very small foot print, its dimensions are only W 380 x D 218 x H 354mm, the APOS can be wall mounted and it has a built in battery for extra security in case of bad or interrupted power. In short the APOS is robustly manufactured to suit the harsh restaurant environment and yet it is sleek and flexible in design.

Software
RST saw a gap in the market for a software solution that could be configured to meet all the needs of the hospitality and retail clients they serve.
By developing software inhouse, RST can offer additional value to clients because Claire for example has one point of contact for all her EPOS needs and enquiries.
The software RST develop is called iTouch; in the most basic terms it is a computer programme that can be installed into point of sale hardware so that restaurateurs can manage the flow of orders and cash in their business. The main benefit of iTouch is the fact that this smart program can do so much more than basic cash register functions including staff time and attendance, back office capabilities such as stock control, accounts and cash management. Furthermore, being PC based means iTouch can be adapted and edited easily. This is of particular benefit to restaurants who can then easily change their menu’s, edit prices, add special offers which can be time and day specific and with the touch of a button this can all be changed. On top of all these benefits iTouch is designed to create an easy to use touch screen to speed staff training, reduce errors and increase efficiency.
