Table Areas

Table Areas let you group and organise tables into logical sections such as Inside, Decking, Marquee, Garden, Restaurant or Bar. These groupings help with reservation management, table layout planning, joins, and tracking availability across different parts of the venue.

What are Table Areas?

Each area represents a physical section of your venue where tables are located.

  • Restaurant may refer to the main indoor dining space.
  • Bar may refer to a secondary or overflow dining area.
  • Patio could refer to outdoor seating.
  • Marquee might refer to a temporary or covered seasonal space.

Example: Grouping tables under Marquee helps when managing bookings that are specific to that area, such as an event or function.

Understanding the Table Areas screen

Field Description
Reference Unique code for the area, such as 001 or 002. Used internally for sorting and system linking.
Description Name of the area, such as Inside, Garden or Marquee. Displayed throughout the reservations system.
Tables Number of tables currently assigned to that area.

Use the filters or search bar to find a specific area quickly.

Add a new Table Area

  1. Click the New button at the top right.
  2. Enter the Reference, for example 005.
  3. Enter the Description, for example Rooftop.
  4. Click Save.

Edit or delete an area

  • Click the row of the area you want to edit.
  • You can update the description or view the tables assigned to it.
  • To delete an area, click the three dots (...). Deleting an area removes all of its tables from the table plan and reservations.

Edit: create and design table layouts

The Edit tab lets you design the floor plan for each area using a drag-and-drop editor.

  • Use the palette on the left to add icons such as tables, doors, plants, or furniture.
  • Drag and drop the table or icon into the correct position on the floor plan.
  • Select a table and use the Inspector to update its description and covers.

Covers are used to apply seating rules and capacity checks when making reservations. For example, if Table 8 is set to 2 covers, the system will not allow bookings for more than 2 guests at that table.

Caution: Avoid deleting or moving tables during live service, especially if they are occupied or linked to an active reservation. This can disrupt bookings or live table tracking.

Joins: group tables for larger parties

The Joins tab is used to define which tables can be combined for larger bookings.

  • Use Add to select two or more tables that can be joined.
  • Set the maximum number of covers the joined setup allows.
  • Joined tables appear as options when booking parties that exceed a single table’s capacity.

Example: Tables 1 and 2 can be joined to seat up to 20 covers. That joined setup can then be offered while entering a reservation for a large group.

Close Outs: block tables from being reserved

Use the Close Outs tab to temporarily disable one or more tables from being reserved.

  • Apply a Time Profile such as Lunch or Dinner.
  • Set a manual From and To date and time.
  • Select individual tables or a group of tables.

This is useful when tables are unavailable for maintenance, a section is booked for a private event, or you want to block walk-ins or online bookings during certain hours.

Close outs can also be created directly from the POS for quicker access during service.

Example: You can close tables 1, 2 and 3 from 12:00 to 12:30 on 5 June, or block Table 21 entirely during Lunch and Dinner time profiles.

FAQs

Can a table belong to more than one area?

No. Each table can only be assigned to a single area.

What happens if I rename an area?

The change is reflected immediately throughout the system, including table plans and reservation views.

Can I reorder the areas?

Yes. Areas are sorted by reference number, so you can control the display order by adjusting the reference values.

Can I change the layout at any time?

Yes. Table layouts and joins can be updated at any time, including during service, although it is safer to avoid moving occupied tables during live service.
