Configuring Kitchen Settings for Products

The Kitchen tab in Tapa Office lets you manage how products are routed to kitchen printers and kitchen display screens. This ensures orders reach the correct preparation areas and are presented clearly to kitchen staff.

Print Name

The Print Name is used as an alternative to the full product name on kitchen dockets.

  • It helps shorten or simplify product names for faster kitchen recognition.
  • If no Print Name is set, the normal product name is used.

Example: use CHK PINEAPPLE instead of Chicken with Pineapple to fit more clearly on a docket.

Printers

Assigning a printer tells the POS where to send printed dockets when the product is sold.

How to attach a Printer to a product

  1. Go to the product and open the Kitchen tab.
  2. Select the Printers section.
  3. Click Attach Printer.
  4. Select the correct Printer from the list.
  5. Click Save.

Example: attach grilled items to the Grill Printer and desserts to the Dessert Printer.

Kitchen Displays (KDS)

Kitchen Displays show orders on screen rather than printing them. These are typically used at prep stations, fryers, and the pass.

How to attach a Kitchen Display to a product

  1. In the Kitchen tab, scroll to the Kitchen Displays section.
  2. Click Attach Display.
  3. Select the appropriate Kitchen Display, such as Fryer, Line Screen, or Expedite.
  4. Click Save.

Example: route chips and onion rings to the Fryer KDS, and burgers to the Grill KDS.
