Managing Dietary and Allergen Information
The Dietary tab lets you manage dietary and allergen details for each product. This helps staff support customers properly and ensures accurate information appears on dockets, online menus, and labels.
Dietary Information
You can mark products with dietary attributes that identify whether they meet specific dietary needs.
- Vegetarian
- Vegan
- Gluten Free
- Dairy Free
- Spice Level: Mild, Medium, or Hot
How to set dietary information
- Go to the Dietary tab in the product screen.
- Tick the boxes that apply.
- Select a Spice Level if relevant.
- Click Save.
Example: a Chickpea Curry may be marked as Vegan, Gluten Free, and Medium Spice.
Allergen Information
The allergen section records which of the 14 recognised allergens are present in the product.
- Celery
- Crustaceans
- Eggs
- Fish
- Gluten
- Lupin
- Milk
- Molluscs
- Mustard
- Peanuts
- Sesame Seeds
- Soybeans
- Sulphites
- Tree Nuts
How to set allergen information
- Scroll to the Allergens section under the Dietary tab.
- Tick all allergens that apply to the product.
- Click Save.
It is your responsibility to make sure this information is correct and kept up to date.
Where this information is used
- On the POS, staff can view dietary and allergen data using Product Info.
- On iWantFed, these details can appear on online menus.
- On product labels, dietary and allergen tags can be included where label settings allow.
Tips for managing dietary data
- Review regularly whenever ingredients change.
- Be consistent across products so customers and staff get clear information.
- Use Spice Level only where it is relevant.
FAQ
Can I mark a product with more than one dietary option?
Yes. You can select multiple dietary options at the same time, such as Vegan and Gluten Free.
Are allergens printed on the docket automatically?
No. They are available in Product Info and online. To include allergens on labels, enable this in your label settings.
What if a product may contain traces of allergens?
You should follow your food safety guidance and label products appropriately. These trace risks are not managed automatically by Tapa Office.
