How do I temporarily close my online store for Christmas and New Year?

Basics

iWantFed online stores use time profiles to control the days and times customers can place online orders. Stores can also use time slots to manage delivery and collection capacity during normal trading hours.

Instead of changing normal opening times or time slots and then needing to remember to reopen the site later, you can use Exceptions on the time profile to temporarily suspend online orders for Christmas, New Year, or any other short closure.

Determining the time profile

  1. Sign in to Back Office.
  2. Go to Ordering > Settings.
  3. Make a note of the Time Profile assigned to both Delivery and Collection.

Most stores use the same time profile for both delivery and collection, but check both before making any change.

Editing the time profile

  1. From the main navigation, go to Settings > Time Profiles.
  2. Find the time profile you noted for delivery or collection.
  3. Click the Edit icon under Actions.

Adding an exception

  1. In the time profile, add an exception for the closure period.
  2. Select the Date From and Time From when online orders should stop.
  3. Select the Date To and Time To when online orders should reopen.
  4. Click Generate Slots.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Use Update Tills and Send Changes from the main screen.

You can add multiple exceptions if you need separate closures for Christmas and New Year.

The online browser or app may need to be refreshed after the change. Allow up to two minutes for the update to apply.

Examples

Holiday Example closure
Christmas Close early on Christmas Eve at 7pm and reopen on 27 December.
New Year Close all day on New Year's Eve and reopen on 2 January 2024.

FAQ

Do I need to change my normal opening hours for seasonal closures?

No. Use time profile exceptions instead so your normal weekly hours stay untouched.

Do I need separate exceptions for delivery and collection?

Only if those services use different time profiles. If both use the same time profile, one exception may cover both.

Can I add more than one closure period?

Yes. You can add multiple exceptions for separate Christmas and New Year closures.
